Scope Cycling consists of a team of Dutch designers and engineers who are passionate cyclists. By combining passion, innovation and quality, the team created a range of high quality wheels and accessories. The Scope wheels are constantly improved to realize the best balance between aerodynamics, stiffness, durability and weight. The company wants to continuously improve its products and redefine the future of modern running pool construction. All Scope products are developed in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The city is considered the Dutch Silicon Valley. Scope’s headquarters are located in one of Europe’s leading high-tech locations. The Technical Universities of Eindhoven and Delft, as well as bearing manufacturer SKF and tyre manufacturer Schwalbe have contributed to the development process. The concentrated knowledge of the development partners flows into the production of the wheels.
A sophisticated aerodynamic rim shape and the resistant carbon lay-up are the basis for superior carbon wheels. The U-shaped carbon fiber rims have been fluid mechanically (CFD) optimized to minimize the influence of drag and crosswind from all angles. Spokes and hubs also play an important role in ensuring high lateral stiffness while maintaining spoke tension. Scope wheels are available as a disc brake version, but also for rim brakes. A specially developed resin and carbon lay-up process is used to manufacture the brake flanges. In the case of rim brake wheels, the temperatures reached can be up to 280 degrees Celsius under heavy braking. It is critical to develop a braking surface that can withstand temperatures to this extreme point without causing material failure. Therefore, it is also recommended to use Scope brake pads for optimum braking performance in wet and dry conditions.
Special SKF bearings and lubricants are used to generate extra robustness and reliability. Dirt and moisture are kept out by special end caps and seals. If that is not enough, you can also upgrade to CeramicSpeed bearings. Scope wheels are compatible with the current installation standards and cassette types. A Scope wheelset can be quickly adapted to new conditions and can therefore be combined with various bikes in the future. All this in combination makes the Scope wheels special.
